Booking agreement
Purpose
This agreement is for the hiring of self catering
accommodation at the premises known as "Captains Bay",
Crover, Mountnugent, Co. Cavan.
If you have a problem, we shall bend over backwards
to sort it out. The main purpose of these terms and conditions
is to ensure that:
1/ You enjoy your holiday and that you are not exposed to undue
risk,
2/ The people who come to the house after you enjoy their holiday
as well and are not placed at risk.
Boats and engines.
One boat and engine is supplied without charge
( except petrol, oil supplied free), subject to the users being
competent boatmen, use of supplied lifejackets and adherence to
water safety, and obedience of the rules of the Shannon Fisheries
Board. A permit is required for each fisherman. By special arrangement
in advance, a second boat and engine may be available at extra
charge.
Deposit
A deposit of 120 Euro is payable upon arrival.
When a second boat is hired this deposit shall be 190 Euro. The
purpose of the deposit is to; guarantee the condition of the lodge,
and all equipment, payment for petrol and electricity. Liability
for damage shall not be limited to the amount of the deposit.
Holiday insurance
Fishing is a dangerous pastime. It is strongly
recommended that all guests should have obtained Holiday Insurance.
Number of guests
The maximum number of guest allowed is five, unless
written permission is obtained in advance from Ken Allen. Guests
in breach of this rule may be subject to immediate termination
of stay.
Pets
Unfortunately pets are NOT allowed.
Engines.
Engines must be inspected upon arrival and all
faults reported immediately. Under no circumstances should guests
attempt to repair an engine themselves. Modern engines have delicate
electronic components and for instance even the running of an
engine with a plug lead off can cause irreparable damage. We have
arrangements in place for repairs to engines.
Servicing
The lodge is left clean and tidy in advance of the arrival of
each party. We expect to receive it back in "brush clean"
condition, but see note on fuel tanks.
Can I refill the fuel tanks myself?
No, should you need more petrol during your stay,
please contact us and we will arrange this for you. At the end
of your stay we will fill the fuel tanks and deduct the cost of
the petrol from your deposit. We will not bill you for the
oil.
Electricity
Electricity is chargeable at the normal residential
rate, and is measured by meter reading at beginning and end of
stay.
Cancellations
All cancellations must be in writing.
Before January 1st.; Holiday may be canceled within
10 days of booking at no charge.
After 10 days, the deposit will be forfeited.
After January 1st.; Cancellation with more than 48 days notice,
deposit and one half of all other monies paid shall be forfeit.
Cancellation with less than 48 days notice, all monies paid shall
be forfeit. Guests should be able to claim under their holiday
insurance.
However we shall endeavour to relet any canceled
week, and should we succeed we shall refund such monies as we
recover in this manner less a 20% charge. It should be noted
that we would offer a late cancellation to a new guest at a late
booking discount. This is merely a goodwill act on our part and
no guarantee is implied.
Is the Lodge available before 4P.M. on the
Saturday?
No, we need time to prepare the lodge for your stay.
I am going to arrive late.
Please inform us in advance so that we will be
at the lodge to meet you, or that we will be able to make some
other arrangement for you.
Extra charges.
Electricity is charged at the normal residential rate. A meter
reading is taken at
the beginning and end of your stay.

you will be given the invoice for refilling the tank(s) before
you leave.
We do reserve the right to charge a supplement if the Lodge is
left in an exceptionally dirty condition.
All damage must be paid for.
Problems
If the hirer should have a problem he should contact
the housekeeper immediately and attempt to resolve the problem.
If after that he fees that the problem has not been resolved,
he should contact Ken Allen. Unless this procedure is strictly
observed we cannot entertain any claim arising out of complaints.
We can take no responsibility for problems of which we are not
immediately notified.
Ken Allen does not accept any liability for loss
of or damage to, personal effects, baggage, motor car, or any
other item belonging to the hirer or any member of the hirer's
party. The hirer should have their own holiday insurance.
In the event of non performance or improper performance
of the contact, compensation payable to the hirer is limited to
a maximum of a refund of the cost of the booking of "Captains
Bay", and shall in no circumstances exceed this. Ken Allen
shall have no liability for any other cost or expense.
Can I bring my lion.
Sorry pets are not allowed.
Extension of stay.
If guests wish to extend their visit, they should make written
inquiries in advance. It is unlikely that a stay can be extended
without advance notice (but it does no harm to ask).
